Avenues for Health provides therapeutic massage  and nurturing touch for seniors and persons with special needs including:

Vickie has worked with seniors and persons with special needs for over 7 years 
(she was also a nurses' aid at a senior care home in Minnesota, and was a certified medication manager for 3 years at a group home in Ames.)

Vickie has given a wellness presentation to the Heartland Senior Services staff and has also been at their annual Health/Fitness Day for Seniors for two years giving free therapeutic massages to attendees and visitors.

Nurturing Touch is a special therapy for those with chronic illness, extreme pain, and terminal conditions.  When someone is dealing with severe health issues, fear and anxiety can be detrimental to the well-being of the individual and their state of mind.  High stress and depression can be eased by nurturing touch.  With this therapy, the client is fully clothed--either sitting or laying down. 

 

We can even work on someone in a wheel chair.  Nurturing touch can be done at our relaxing office or in the comfort of your home.  The goal of this therapy is to provide physical and mental relaxation through calming of the central nervous system including the brain, spinal cord, and all the nerves throughout the body.
